Aquaculture

Central Scotland is a hub for biotechnology.  With the World-renowned National Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Hub (NATIH) on our doorstep (Stirling, Scotland), Global DX seek to become providers of innovative rapid diagnostic tests for the aquaculture industry. It is expected that the demand for ‘blue foods’ (from aquatic sources) will have doubled come 20501.

As the global population continues to grow rapidly, aquaculture is expected to be a major provider of nutritious and healthy food.  Presently, ‘blue foods’ are the most traded foods in the world, feeding billions and creating a livelihood for millions.

As the importance of aquaculture for feeding the world is realised, it is receiving increasing attention.  However, emerging and re-emerging infectious disease continues to be as much a threat to the aquaculture industry as it is to terrestrial farmers. Rapid tank-side diagnostics will play a vital role in biosecurity and health management of aquatic stock, limiting disease loss and improving animal welfare.

Global DX Solutions provides those in the aquaculture sector with the unique opportunity to become leaders in rapid diagnostic testing solutions for aquatic disease.
